Is that how much ATF I need to buy? 2.5 qts for a manual and 9.1 for an automatic? That has to be a misprint isn't it?

Yes thats right - The Manual Trans uses hardly any oil - just enough to coat all the gears & bearings - An auto use ATF for everything - The Torque Converter alone holds 4 quarts, the ATF Cooler holds 1.2 quarts the valve body holds a quart etc, etc - it all adds up. -

if you just drop the pan and dump it about 2-3 quarts will stay trapped in the TQ Convand ATF cooler so the you can probably get by with just 7 quarts to start.
