Did i get ripped off?

I got a t66 tso4 turbo kit with intercooler, Microtech Standalone with 1 hour tuning and installation. I havent put it on the car because i am waiting for the parts to come in but i allready made a deposit on the parts. Total for everything was a little over 7k. Was this to much?? I dont have to many shops around me that work on rotary's so i dont have anywhere else to shop around. ANy help would be appreciated.

The Microtech would run you about $1-1.5k....the turbo, $2k max, intercooler...$300-500...one hour of tuning, $300 maybe. Yeah, I'd say you got pwnt in the butt.

A couple of questions for you:

garrett turbo? what wastegate and manifold? Is the wastegate plumbed back into the downpipe (i hope so)? What intercooler?

7k for the ecu, turbo kit, and front mount (assuming here) intercooler install (parts and labor) isn't horrible I suppose, depending on the quality of the turbo kit and intercooler.

In the PM you sent me you didn't mention fuel injectors, you will definitely need to upgrade those as well.

Why would you hope so?

umm i dont think he said anything about installing fuel injectors for me. Yes it is a front mount. I dont know what name brand the parts are but they are a very good shop and they have a very good rep so i dont think they would use cheap stuff. I just dont know if i should get the t78 or t88 and do the whole motor now or just do this setup and wait for the motor to go? I just want an 11 second car i am not looking to set any records.

^Your setup should be more than enough to get you into 11 seconds, considering you can drive and put the power down to the ground i.e proper tires.

if the WG is not plumbed back in the car can (not necessarily) be louder during normal driving as some WG's tend to leak /very/ slightly, just enough to be irritatingly noisy but not enough to actually matter.

the car will also be a HELL of a lot louder once the WG opens up (at WOT and sometimes during mid throttle - basically any time the car sees full boost) compared to if it was plumbed in.

Other than that it doesn't matter and the car can make more power with it being dumped open unless it's done very right. Your downpipe will also be a royal bitch to remove and install if you have an external wastegate plumed into the downpipe.

my 10AE (with a greddy turbo setup) now has the wastegate plumbed in, it was quite a bit of work to do it but I think the end result made it worthwhile - mine was noisy (TRUST wastegate) and I like quiet cars.

In my opinion, an open wastegate (not routed back into the dp) does not belong on a street car. Loud enough to make your ears bleed when the wg opens. Seriously.

I say stick with the turbo you've got. It's similar in size to a greddy t78 (which has around a 66mm compressor inducer), and the T88 is too large and laggy, no fun for a street car.
