Did I get a good deal on my car?

Hello everybody. I am new to the forum so please bare with me. I bought my 1993 Mazda RX7 a few months ago. It is silver and 5speed. The car is in really good shape. The car was proffessionally repainted silver and i was told that the car had a rebuilt engine and rebuilt turbo. The car runs very good. I havent found any oil leaks or anything of that sort. The car has about 100k miles and its a base model. I paid 16,500 for the car. I hope i didnt pay too much, but oh well..whats done is done.
Just out of curiosity.

Sounds a bit high to me. If I was still looking for a 7 and that ad came up, I would offer him around 15K give or take a bit. It would depend on how new the engine and turbos were.

To be honest with you, with 16,500 you couldve probably got a 94 silver RX7. Well when i was looking to buy my car the price sure does differ a lot from just the condition, mileage, and even the color!!

I paid a little more than that almost 4 years ago for a 93 with 89K on it, second motor.
If you look at it as bang for you buck, you got a hell of a deal. Now go hunt down those mustangs and have some fun!

ur on the west coast,
so paying 15-18k for an fd with a good engine is
a perfectly acceptable price,

dont worry about it.

if you lived in montana or something...
then you should expect to pay less.
also i'm guessing washington prices are probly a bit cheaper, but here in cali , fd's go for alot.

These value questions always come up and you can never tell. It has a rebuilt engine and turbos? That can mean a drop-in Mazda reman ($2000) or a fully rebuilt motor with new parts ($6000). It has a new paintjob? Well there are $500 paintjobs, $2000 paintjobs, and $5000 paintjobs. You get what you pay for. So, if your car falls into the latter catagory, you got a hell of a steal, but if it falls into the former, then maybe not such a great deal. Bottom line is, you CANNOT judge a car's value by the mileage (and this is coming from a guy with only 43,000 miles...) alone, whether on the engine, chassis, turbos, whatever. Moral of the story: don't worry, all RX-7s are a good deal, just enjoy it .

Why worry about it? You already bought it, just do as Nathan said and enjoy it.

Sounds a bit high to me for around here (OK) but then again I paid 17k for a Silver 94 R2 with 81k original miles on engine and turbos...Bought it in Virginia so I don't know if that is high there...but leme tell you this...if it's holding together good and you are happy then it was worth it...these cars are becoming so hard to find...especially in good shape..

Enjoy!

I agree... The value of the car is what its worth to you... So if you enjoy it and you yourself believe it was worth it, it dont matter... Enjoy the thing!!!

I paid $20k for mine in 97 with only 49,000 on it.

I had been looking and there were very few around the southeast that were available at the time.

Would i take $20k for it now????? No! Not even close.

See signature.....

Oh my G#$,
I found mine from this old guy in Southern California. His wife was in the hospital and he needed the money. So I like to think I helped the gentlemen out. '93 Montego Blue REX garaged 93k miles for $13k. Now I feel really good about my newest toy thanx all.
