I just found out that they made this recall on June 15th, 2005. Has anyone gotten it yet?

 

I didn't even know about it. until you brought it up. I'll look into it and do it when i'm free next month

yeah, its a brake vacuum line thing. I did something about it back in that day

 

I saw the recall on "MyMazda" website. Its the Brake recall. I also noticed a ECU recall as well.

 

Recall 96V149000: Brake Vacuum Check Valve Restriction
Oil mist in the intake air can kill the check valve leading to the brake booster, resulting in loss of
braking. The dealer will fix this for free by replacing the 2 rubber lines going to the brake booster
with new parts.
Recall 95V069000: Fuel Hose Leak/Fan Module
This is the fuel line recall. Replaces the fuel lines with newer more heat-resistant parts, and the
addition of the rewired cooling fan and the new fan control box. The wiring on the cooling fans
allow the fans to run with the car off, and the control box allows the fans to run for 10 minutes
after shutdown if the car is over a certain temperature.
Recall 94V094000: Radiator Cap Relief Pressure Incorrect
The early radiator caps ran a higher cooling system pressure. At the higher pressure, the car
could run hotter, and many of the rubber seals in the car couldn't cope with the high temps. This
could lead to coolant leaking on the turbos and a fire, so they had to do a recall. Update on this
one - found a full text of what the dealers were instructed to do:
Dealers will inspect the vehicles and if any vehicle exhibits coolant leakage or if the coolant level
has dropped to the point where the coolant loss would be sufficient to trigger the coolant level
warning system, components potentially subject to deterioration from overheating would be
replaced. These parts include the water pump bearing housing, the water level sensor and
radiator upper hose, the thermostat gasket, and all water hoses located above the engine. In
addition, all vehicles in which those components are replaced would also have the cooling system
and other systems that carry flammable liquids checked to make certain that engine overheating
had not caused any problems in those systems. Any identified problems will be repaired. The
radiator cap, filler cap, and filler cap body [AST] of all recalled vehicles will be replaced by newly
designed parts.
So, it's possible the dealers also replaced a lot of the cooling hoses, the water pump, etc.

All of these are old recalls. Most people have already had them done

 

Did you call MazdaUSA to verify that there is a new recall out?

 

By taking my car up to a Mazda dealership service center, they can run my VIN # and see if all the Recalls have been performed, right? And will they honor any that have possibly not been done if the car is modified?

 

Man, that fuel line recall must have cost Mazda A LOT of money. I did it on my car just because I wanted new hoses (the recall had already been done). Insane amount of work. I've run carfaxes on cars before that needed a recall for whatever reason. The date of the recall sometimes is very recent even if the recall itself is old.

Just call MazdaUSA and have your VIN number ready. They can/will look up the car to see if there are any outstanding recalls.

 

Any chance that they don't have their network linked up so u can get certain recalls done again?

I like to think of it as a free face-lift.

FYI - I actually had this fail this past Sunday (9/11/05) on a drive and just called MazdaUSA and they said this was an outstanding recall on my car (a 1993) and they will fix it free of charge if I schedule an appointment with the dealer.

 

I still have to make sure to go check it out

 

Hm, that's interesting. We are the original owners of our '94, and although we did have the fuel line/fan mod recall done, I don't remember getting any notification of that brake booster vacuum line recall. (We never moved, either.)
