Dented rotor ok for rebuild?

so i pulled the rear iron and rotor out of my motor which detonated one night coming into boost at lower rpm. I believed this to be caused by the injector clip for my bosch 1600s not being on correctly. the metal clip was on the injector clip, just not pushed all the way in and retained. (front rotor tho)

now im going to ALS seals and porting it, looking to turn up and make more power with my s366.

the Dent is in between the apex groove and combustion chamber, about thumb print size, very noticeable.

Now should i check clearances and let it fly if apex & side seal clearance look good?

OR should i check clearanes and save it for parts for a low boost or NA build later?
option 2 only valid as i have 5 rotary race/street cars. rx3, locost, miata, formula mazda, and my FD(ok fd is blown right now).

New rotor is 584.55 from mazda. HOWEVER; i do have some s4 TII rotors that should be good. or should i find some more FD rotors.

No, if you've dented a rotor than I would NOT put it back into a fresh engine, regardless of seal clearances...

You could use the T2 rotors... but they are higher weight and lower compression, so they really wouldn't be as effective as getting an FD rotor (just make sure to get a matched rotor letter from mazda). Here is a chart breaking down different rotors http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/rotorwgt.htm

However, if you put in the effort you can really make any rotor work, I put S4 NA rotors in my engine (that I had lightened, balanced, and clearanced) that are a BEAST! It just boils down to what you want your end results to be,and what length you're willing to go to achieve them..

Is it desirable? No. Will it run just fine? Yes. Its really up to you but it will work with no issues. Ive seen cars make big power and run perfect with heavily dented rotors.

As for TII rotors, the S5 TII rotors are the same compression, weight etc and will work just fine.

You want to try to stay with the same letter or one letter apart to keep the weight similar. However, you would be shocked how much variance there is in two of the same letter rotors.

At the end of the day I would run the rotor in my personal car all day without thinking twice regardless of what others will tell you.

i think i may just run the dented rotor and use the money to buy a AI kit.

after all the dimple means less friction right? lol jk

i did notice how much lighter the FD rotor is than an early early 13b rotor i have as a wheel chock.
