The demons in my RX-7 have been banished!!!
Welps...all of my demons in my RX-7 suspension, and body are solved.
I had a loose camber bolt in the front that was making this awful "clunking" sound everytime the weight shifted in the car. I thought it was a CV joint or something horrible. It turns out it was just loose, the serviceman tightened it, and did my alignment.
I've also finished my sound-deadening for the door panels. I used an asphalt based spray on my passenger door, and then chose to do the driver's side with a rubber based spray.
BOTH of them stink like crap...I've been airing my car out since I finished them. I also took the time to tighten all of my hood panels, door panels, trunk panels, and every other little nut and bolt aI could find.
Since I've finally got the suspension all done up, along with the braking, and that awful clunk has been solved, I took her for a little "test" drive. I've been kinda reserved and haven't even really tested the handling limits due to the problems.
Now...coming home...OMFG...this thing handles and stops like a go-kart!!! It's so amazing what a little alignment and camber adjustment can do!!
I've got so much more confidence..no clunking sound..just solid riding. It sounds just as clean as my Celi...not the almost 10 year old car it actually is.

As far as asphalt type sound deadening goes, it weighs a ton. There are countless threads here and other places asking the best ways to remove OEM and aftermarket sound proofing, undercoating and insulation.

Welps..My car sounded like it had a couple Balrogs from LotR in it.
I sound proofed the car, because I wanted a little bit more of a luxurious ride....the car is already the shiznit, but it's a little on the rough side when you're out cruising the town. My wife likes to ride (and soon drive) in it, so I want her to feel comfortable, and not like we're riding a skateboard. So it's an easy trade-off for me. I'll just add more HP to offset the minor weight gain. I'm not out to do 10's so it doesn't matter to me that much.
And I agree on NOT using the asphalt spray...I posted a topic asking if it would be a good idea or not, and I didn't get any help, so I found out for myself that it stinks, takes forever to dry, and can add a wee bit of weight to your car depending on how much you use. I was going to wait till I got an answer..but after the second day, I said F'k it, and did it anyways.
I didn't use ALOT..just enough to take the "ting" outta the doors.
I recommend you use the rubber spray coating from 3M, that stuff was MUCH better, but still stank like azz.
As for weight...I'm not worried about it. I weighed both cans and it came up to like about 6 lbs with the can. It's not THAT much weight. I think you guys are kinda getting carried away. Unless you're doing some serious competitive racing, that little bit isn't going to help much, and it'll make your car a helluva lot louder.
Hell..if I want to make up the difference, I'll just go on a diet or something.
And yes..I had no idea what the hell a CV joint was until I looked it up. I'm still a newbie when it comes to certain things in cars...but I'm learning as I go.
It does help to be mechanically inclined with these cars.

Ah..er..I'll have to take a look..lol. I asked him to give me safe settings for the current weather as I'm about to drive down to Eugene, OR to get the engine ripped out...so I didn't want to get too technical.
Lemme scan a copy and I'll post it...too much to write.

Here's the scan....any suggestions? I'm kinda new to camber adjustments, although I understand how it all works, I don't really know the proper settings for improved handling.
And the High Rez for those of you that want to actually be able to read it...without a magnifying glass.

Er...no problem...Anyone know what great settings for camber are? I know we're kinda getting into suspension now..but I can't exactly move the post.
