Defi Water/oil temp senders

I have searched but nothing found that answers my question.
I have perchased a second hand twin pillar mount complete with defi water and oil temp gauges and link unit, unfortunatly no senders were available so im wondering if i can utilise my exsisting water and oil temp guages, i have water and oil temp senders with only 1 wire going to them but the wires on the defi link unit has 2, Duz anyone know how i should wire these wires up.
Just the sender wires as iv found how to wire the link unit up i think.

Ta Steve.

The senders from your old gauges are most likely not compatible with the Defi gauges.

You need the Defi sensors. You should be able to order them from any authorized Defi dealer in your country.

Just to let ya know i priced up 2xtemp sensors for water and oil from defi but didnt want to pay the prices £80 for the both so i tryed a mixture of 2 wire sensors and they all seem to work, managed to get hold of 2 GReedy sensors for £20 as i trust a quality sensor a lot more than cheaper ones and they seem to work a treat.

^ I'm sure many sensors will provide a reading on the gauge, the problem is does 100* at the sensor read as 100* at the gauge? The sensor and gauge have to be caliberated the same so merely getting a reading doesn't mean it's correct.

Makes sence when ya think about it.

Well i allready have a temp gauge in my car not defi but a £45 one off ebay and the defi guage with gready sensor reads the same as my installed ebay guage.

So guess im gonna go with the Gready sensors for now and see how the temps perform.

I have a route to work that is the same speed everyday and the temp climb and fall the same on every trip so i kinda know the temp of my car on that route.

The Gready guages that the senders came off goes up to 160 so i guess it may be ok.

Will keep ya posted as to the results.

If it dont look good then ill go with the Defi senders.

If the two gauges agree across several temp ranges and have the same upper limit on their scales I think you're home free.

If you want to be positive insert a thermometer into a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Quickly carry the pot out to the car. With the key on drop the sensor into the pot (while it's still wired up) and compare the gauge reading with the thermometer as the water cools.
