Defi D-link Boost Gauge Inacurate

Is anyone else having problems with this particular gauge? I just rebuilt and ported my motor and the vacuum reading on the gauge is showing about 10 inches. However Edgar at Mazdapros hooked up his boost gauge to my car and it's pulling 18 inches. He assures me that his is accurate, especially since my boost gauge shows 2 psi when off. I can only assume that mine is off... so my real question... is there a way to fix mine? I bought the gauge a while ago and Defi stopped producing this line of gauges. I can't send it back to them to replace it. Especially without the original box... (is lost).

Unfortunately, the DEFI d boost gauge has bee known to be off by quite a lot. I have one as well but it's accurate.

I've got the D and it seems OK. How is the accuracy on the BF model?

i had autometer cobalts before on my sti and those were accurate. so now i went with autometer nexus and still very accurate. so for my money i believe autometer is some of the better gauges out there.

Defi makes very accurate and high quality electrical gauges. However, they do not really make mechanical gauges, of which the D boost gauge was. I wonder if they farmed out the work and didn't get the normal quality control level....

I use an Autometer 3376 stepper-motor 2-1/16 gauge

http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugede...id=2818&sid=15

It has warning and peak hold functions, and is VERY accurate. It resets its zero every time you start the car.

$179.95 at Summit Racing.

I'd contact Defi. The gauge could have been badly mishandled on its way to you, and pretty much any mechanical gauge can't withstand a lot of shock. From what I can gather, Defi has great customer support (as they should for the price) and they should be able to help.

Mine sits at 1 LB of boost when off. Its a Defi D boost gauge. I looked into getting it fixed. I contacted Defi USA and they were very prompt in replying and helping, but they require you to have the shop or distributor test it first before they replace it through them. I bought mine on E-bay, so assed out. I am now looking at the BF gauges and hope that I have no problems and I am getting them from a reputable shop that offers a warrantythis time, you live and you learn.

Over the years, I've seen many ppl complain about Defi D-Gauge boost gauges being off. Many ppl have no probs w/ them at all, and the ones that do are usually minor (1-2 psi off), but nothing like what you're describing (10 in Hg vs 18 in Hg). I have read of new ones not sitting at zero etc, but I think those are damaged gauges, or as Dale suggested, mishandled.
