So I've got the rats nest off, this will help me redo my vacuum lines. I am also intending to replace my OMP lines with SS ones, and send my injectors off to be cleaned.

As you can see, I still cannot get to the bottom of the OMP lines. . . what else needs to come off?

Also, somebody mentioned a good place to send the injectors off to, that were cheap and reliable. . .I forgot the name. Any help on this is appreciated. Is it worth sending the old ones off to be cleaned, or is it money better spent to replace them with some aftermarket ones. If so, what's a good, reasonably priced replacement people are using?

Sorry to be off your topic but be very carefull removing the injectors, some are extremely brittle from time, like most every other plastic part in an FD engine bay. Personaly I would get new ones, not that expensive and better peice of mind. Do you plan on upgrading or going stock?

 

I figure I may upgrade since I'm in this far anyway. . . it's a simple plug and play upgrade, right?

 

This is where i disconnected the fuel lines from the hard pipes and removed the whole fuel rail and hard pipe assembly.

I strongly recommend removing the injectos from the fuel rail while off the car - at least that way you can get a little penetrating oil onto both the top and lower o-ring, which helps them budge loose.

I've had both witchunter and RC Engineering clean injectors - and had good success with both.

I just did the whole injector thing... sent them to rc engineering. http://www.rceng.com Was $28.50/injector.

As far as the ss omp lines.... you should dig down to the front of the engine to unhook the cas's and other connections so you can just lift the whole damn harness up... i did all my work without doing this and it was a pain in the ***. I didn't replace omp lines tho.

You need to take the primary fuel rail off to get to the oil injectors on top of the engine. I've heard nothing but good things about rc engineering. I took my injectors to a place in Indianapolis on Gasoline Alley. I wish I could remember the name, but they were great. Contact AIM Tuning in Indy if you are interested in using them. It's an RX7 shop and they are right down the street from this fuel injector service shop. If you are going to upgrade the injectors I assume you already have some type of EMS that you will need to get retuned.

 

I sent all four of my injectors to RC engineering when I did my hose job. They did a great job! I would also recommend that you replace your FPD while you have the fuel rails out.

 

What ECU are you running?

 

As far as I know, it's a stock ECU. I bought the car with quite a few mods already done by Pettit. Seems like most of the "TKT" mods they call them were done. I was told it had a relatively fresh engine rebuild and turbo rebuild also, but don't have proof and haven't checked the compression yet. As I mentioned I'm doing the radiator, intercooler, OMP lines, vacuum lines, BOV, and other maintenance things to replace some of these old lines.

So, to answer your question, I think it's a stock ECU, but Pettit could have done some reprogramming work to it in the past. I just don't know.

 

That engine looks new.

To get the OMP lines off, take off the oil injetors (19mm if i remember, under fuel rail) and there are 2 10mm banjo bolts holidng them to the actual OMP. Past that they are just clipped via thin metal flexible fixings from the OMP, under the water pump housing and up to ontop of the engine. good luck!

If your ecu is stock, you cannot upgrade your injectors. So, if you want upgraded injectors you will also have to upgrade your ecu.
