Deciding on the color: RED or BLACK

Hi guys!

I'm repainting my red FD and still haven't 100% decided on the color. Basically, I always wanted a black color. But then I started to look for pictures of FDs, but haven't found any good ones. I realized it's very hard to find some nice pictures of freshly painted FDs, that don't have aftermarket side skirts, bumpers, etc...

So I'm looking for pictures of more-or-less stock red and black FDs, with R1/2 rear spoiler and lip, or without them. My car has currently stock '94 bumper with R2 lip and R2 rear spoiler. My initial idea was to paint it black, remove the rear spoiler and leave the R2 lip on unpainted. But I can't find any decent pictures of configuration like that. Also, those official pictures that exists are so special with special lighting/angles and don't really look realistic.
Then another option is to paint it red as is, and in future equip it with '99 front bumper (but that's still under question). Picture of this car made me think about it:http://www.importspeed-south.com/joserx7.htm
But then again I love black, and maybe the front bumper wouldn't even come to the light if the car is black...

I'm really so uncertain. Please help me out with your comments and pictures. Thanx...

I'd pick red over black...Mainly becuase with black it tends to hide the beautiful lines that the FD carries. But that's just me...But if I had to pic red or black I would pick silver my baby http://www.apneablue.com/rx7/photos/photos/three7s2.jpg

keep it stock color............. better resell value.

u start changing the paint and people think u probably had a serious accident and want to hide it.

otherwise black is good....... all the black trims and lip blends right in.

red tends to oxidize over time..........

also changing the color is much more expensive, if you want it done correctly, the engie bay and all of the interoir door peices have to be painted and so on...
if your poor like me, stay with red

I agree, I'd much rather have a black FD... but not if I had to repaint it. Though, if you do reptaint it, do it right. Strip the interior -- then paint all of it black, take out the motor -- and paint it black... I sound like Rolling Stones. Anyways, don't do it if can't afford to do it right.

some pics of my black FD can be found here, I think black is definitely my favorite color for an FD:

I'd probably just keep it red though unless you want to do what WaLieN suggested... do it the right way

Thanks guys for posting those beautiful pictures. All cars are beautiful in it is a hard decision, indeed. On some pictures I like the red more, on others black.

However, the picture that get the most water to my mouth was the one Engberg posted. It looks so clean, so wide and low on the ground, and this deep gloss really impresses me. Engberg, if you have some, please post some more pictures of this car.

About the paint job, the engine bay will be completely cleaned and repainted in either case, since I'm rebuilding it thoroughly. But I don't think interiour of doors or center tunnel will be painted, even if I decide for black. It can be a bit irritating if you know you have somewhere something red under those carpets and plastics, but on the other hand, I don't see any rationale or need to paint it there.
