and the dealer said to me

i know i know
dealers are the devil
but i wanted a compression test and some cosmetic things and suspension
nothing on the engine
but i checked the compression test and the mechanic said i have
rotor 1: 7.3 6.8 6.8
rotor 2: 7.5 7.5 6.6
compression
i asked him to heat it up first
it was performed at 258 rpm the dude said that new engines have 12-13 compression on all chambers and mazda requitres a minimum of 8
he also told me there were 4 rear toe links coming to a parts cost of 1331 dollars
tried to charge me for 3 things i didnt ask for
no i thought i heard that anythign a bove 6 was acceptable and anythign above 7 was good on a warm engine
i have the sneaking suspicion this guy is trying to take me for a ride
so for now i said go ahead with two hedlight covers the door handle and the gas door
is my compression fine?
am i right in sa=ying the dealer is trying to take me for a ride?
thx a million

Your compression is just fine, don't sweat that at all. They DO NOT come with 12-13 from Mazda, that is a lie.

Two toe links ,two trailing links. The trailing links are $150 each .Garfinkle just got them for 3xowner along with the ather bushing she needed. I think the toe bushings can be replaced, the trailing link bushings can not press out .

Sounds like it's time to get a second opinion.

busted apex seal will give you low numbers on two faces of the rotor. a bum side seal will give you a low number on 1 face.

Yeah your numbers aren't all super close together and you do have some variations... which isn't 100% ideal. BUT if the car drives and runs fine, I would not even sweat it at all. Just enjoy the car.

I would not even consider rebuilding that engine unless it has trouble starting or stalls out a lot or something. Those numbers aren't perfect, but they're not what I call "red alert" numbers either.

Drive it and enjoy it
