DEALer or NO DEALer
Hey guys, I know about the 3 recalls the 93 FD had, and I know that you can take it to a dealership and have it alleviated free of charge. My question is, would anyone recommend doing this? I've recieved dealership services on other vehicles, and they usually came out worse than they entered... so I'm kinda in a dilemma... any of you guys had your recalls handled by dealers? Results? Thanks...

Do you actually have recalls that haven't been done? Pretty much all FD's had the recalls done way back in the day.
The only recall I'd trust the dealer with is the brake hose recall - takes 2 minutes and a pair of pliers. I would NOT trust the dealer with the fuel line recall - IMHO, that's why a LOT of FD's got screwed up. You have to dig down SO deep to replace all those fuel lines, there's tons of things to break, not plug in right, or cross up.
Cooling fan recall isn't TOO bad - depends on how much they end up doing. If it's just the new caps, harnesses, and fan control module, that's not too bad.
What recalls are open on your car? I think Mazda's website will tell you if you have open recalls.

Well I didn't see any stickers in the door jambs, didn't realize you could go on a site to check it out, I just assumed it hadn't been done. After reading your post, I don't really want to go to a dealer now... do I have any other options? Aren't some rotary shops Mazda approved to replace engines, perhaps the recalls can be performed by them?
