DEAD cigarette lighter but good Cigar fuse

Was at the last Auto-X and went to put more air in my tires. Filling up the last tire all of a sudden the pump dies. Thought I overheated the pump, but when I plugged in the radar detector. Still no power.

Looked at the fuse today and it's fine. Also, the AC works, radio, antenna, and outside mirror.

How many things get go wrong with the cigarette lighter plug itself? Does it short?

Any other places to look?

Thanks.

Check continuity from fusebox (via appropriate fuse termnial) to postitive lighter terminal.

Ok. Figured it out. There is this wire that connect the ground to the connection on the plug.

I just soldered a new wire in.

My only questions are:

1. why did it burn this wire out and not the fuse?

2. Any risk of just splicing a new wire in its place? (not an electrician)

3. Is this a symptom of an electical problem that I should look at?
