Dave Disney's Fan mod.

I did this fan mod yesterday where you can turn your fan's anytime you want. I have two switches, for two different speeds. Now i was wondering in which direction do the fans blow? When i turn them on it looks like they are blowing from engine to ouside not from ouside to engine. Is this the way it should be?

Also when i turn them off, the temp is 208-210, but when they are on and i'm driving around it goes to 215-220. I thought that the fan's are sopose to cool it down, not heat it up. I did exactly the same as the write up on Dave Disney's web site. I don't know what could be the problem then. It looks as if it is better not to turn them on. What do you guys think?

Postive and negative polarity. If you are unsure of what polarity means in the case, then perhaps this mod was over your skill level.

Polarity

You have the "hot" lead and "ground" reversed. Switch the wires and you should get the fans moving in the right direction.

I haven't even touched the positive wire. I only taped into the 2 relays, and put them on a switch. I only taped int two wires that needed ground. I followed directions on Dave Disney's web site. I didn't touch hot wires at all.

Check your airflow direction easily this way: Get a punk or a stick of incense or ANYTHING that will smoke nicely and observe the smoke trail when held in front of the radiator/air conditioner condensor.

As for the temp being higher whilst underway, well.....if the ambient outside air temp is fairly high, and the engine is under a load, you are going to see higher temps than just idling.

actually one fan sucks air the other blows. Air is circulated.

Open your hood when the fans are on, you'll see.
