Dashpot needed or can i delete it
Last week I got off the exit and my FD was stuck at 3k rpms on idle. It was pretty late at night and i wasnt about to get under the hood with no tools and light. I drove home. Didnt drive it until last night. Before i left i tried looking around and found the cause. It was the dashpot(i think thats what the FSM calls it - lent it to a friend so i cant look it up). For some reason the lock nut came loose and it turned in all the way so it kept the throtle plates open. I turned it by hand but could not get the lock nut tight.
I see no reason for it to be there other than to keep the throtle plates form slamming shut upon depressing the gas pedal. What would be the worst that could happend if I delete it? Anyone else out there driving around with it removed???

I've seen stock cars running fine with the dashot never making contact with the linkage. On my modded car I had to have it to keep the car from stalling when I would jump off the throttle. With the throttle plates shutting instantly the car would de-rev fast enough to make the motor stumble or die as rpms reached idle territory (I had an ultra light flywheel and even adjusted the rpms up in the PFC to engage the injectors sooner, still needed the dashpot and with proper adjusted it worked flawlessly every time).
