So you replaced the factory engine oil at some point?

I promise to make this a short semi-hijack:

What sort of boost pattern were you getting just before you installed the needle valve? Specifically, the primary peak, transition dip, post-transition spike and redline values?

I'm in virtually the same spot as you (all stock with a new DP and new RB Dual). It's boost spike city over here. My redline value is regulated to 10psi. I'm about to bore through the restrictor "pill(s)" built into my '95's casting and stick a valve in the hose.

Thanks.

Angry Stock Wheels is Good

Damon - you will appreciate my un-mod from yesterday:

Previous owner installed 16 x SEVEN Bling Bling Chrome wheels (more important than fixing say, the stock cat back that was about to fall off I suppose)

I tracked down the original wheels in his Dad's shed (for an additional $100)

To quote the kid at Discount Tire yesterday: wow - these stock wheels are a whole lot lighter than these chrome ones ! (you should know, I thought - I found the receipt from Discount Tire in 03 where they sold the previous owner the bling bling rims for $600)

Lesson - stock is not bad - especially if the modded parts add say, oh 50 pounds to the unsprung weight of the car !!!

Idiots!

you could also try getting a boost controller. i spent a few months trying to troubleshoot the problem you described and finally gave up and bought a used Profec B. Issue resolved.

Thanks for the advice Alberto. I was considering an electronic boost controller, but thought I'd try the po'mans way out first.

Damon, I found your thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=boost+spike

I'll read that and bug you there, instead.

I use plain dino oil and I refuse to change it (and the filter) more often than every 3,000 miles.

I wish i would have had the will to keep my car mostly stock. 25k in mods later.....

But then again you do have a race car that im sure ties you over for speed. Quick question, do you drive your race car on the street at all?
