Unhappy Damn I Got Lucky, I Sure Hope This Works Out In The End

Well, I took an offramp too fast tonight. The good news is, I didn't wreck. The bad news is the back end came out, my genius-ness instinctively hit the brakes, jumped a sloped cement median and spun out in the grass missing any trees lining the road. No body damage. The Casualties: Two Bent Racing Hart C2's...the good news: I have replacement C2's.

Only problem now seems to be some messed up front suspension. Upon initially jacking the car up and having a look, everything looks alright, but clearly all is not well. The steering feels very floaty and feels like it has 3 times the power steering. Furthermore, if you slightly turn the wheel one direction it grabs in the opposite direction. I have a feeling this goes beyond the terrible alignment it has right now.

Who should I take this to look at? Rotary Specialist? Good Alignment/wheel/tire shop? Body Shop?

Please give me some suggestions guys. I got really lucky and learned a lesson tonight and now I gotta go and fix my screw-up.

I would take it to a good suspension place over a rotary place, they might be able to help a little but a suspension shop is going to be far more helpful IMO.

Hey, it could've been worse.

Check out the loose nut in front of the steering wheel. Then replace it.

Compare the gaps between the tires and the fenders on both. That may help tell what exactly is bent. You're just gonna have to take it to a good suspension/alignment shop and get an estimate on what needs to be replaced. You might wanna keep you eye out in the parts section for someone parting out a car or something so you can just buy the whole front suspension. Replace the bent parts and take it to get a four wheel alignment.

Now that's funny. lol

I might have it checked at a frame shop, just to be sure, they'll be the best at figuring out if things are bent out of wack. An alignment might just patch it up, say by using adjustments to fix the bent parts rather than replacing them. Plus you'll know for sure if there is any frame tweaking needed.

If you hit the curb hard enough to break your rims, your alignment is toast. A good alignment shop (ask around for recommendations) will be able to tell if anything is bent. Take it to them first. If you tweeked the front end out, they should be able to tell you this for certain.

Good luck,

Actually the saying goes..........

Replace the loose nut "behind" the steering wheel.

I know, but "behind" doesn't make sense.
