damn door handles!!!!

so after yesterday i've officially gone through 3 sets of door handles. idk wtf to do. after the first set broke, i started being extremely gentle with them trying to open the door and lightly as possible. but after 3 months they just started getting harder and harder to open then they snap, same thing happened with the 3rd set.

does anyone make some aluminum ones that wont snap after a few months, i usually get my handles from rhdjapan, even though shipping takes a while they sell them for a very good price.

any ideas?

you need to lube them up with something when they get hard.

I highly recommend rx7doorhandles.
Tom, the guy who makes and sells them is a real good guy. The handles are actually extremely heavy duty and have a great weighty feel to em. I have a pair myself. It makes a world of difference.

Even with new ones, periodically lube them. They'll last a lifetime - it's called preventive maintenance

rx7doorhandles.com are great. I have them and they feel amazing. Plus lifetime warranty.

Oh and you should never have to lube a door handle let alone periodically....seems like another FD owner that feels as though it is one of the quirks you deal with when you own an FD (Kind of like all those british car owners). They are cheap plastic. They heat up and get fragile. Not amount of lube will correct that.

Use white lithium grease. But replacing the handle wont fix your problem as they're not what breaks inside the unit. Unless I'm misunderstanding your statement and your handle itself is literally breaking. Are you purchasing new assemblies or used ones?

The handles are breaking. I can tell you it is a violent event when it happens. mine snapped where the "hinge pin" goes through the handle.

What the heck is THAT supposed to mean??

Mine broke originally one winter morning before I left Virginia, it was apparently frozen and just snapped when I tried to open the door to leave a friends house... I had to climb in through the passenger door until I could get a new driver side assembly from Frittz.

lmao...I didn't even realize what I said. I guess replacing the word hard with "stiff" wouldn't of made much of a difference though

My orinigal post was a bit "anit-british" sounding lol

JLK worked for me... Ebay was an ok deal
Anodized black and made of thick aluminum, Life time warrenty. Probably cheaper than replacing it a whole bunch of times.

There's a reason it's called a door latch and not a door handle.

If you don't understand what that means, it's no wonder you break door latches.
