Damaged ignition cylinder
Hey guys,
Someone tried to break into my FD. They put a drill bit into my ignition cylinder. The cylinder is damaged and I cant get my key in. I can't start or move the car at all.
I know I need a new ignition cylinder assembly. I already purchased one and I am trying to install it. I have found some threads talking about how to replace a damaged ignition cylinder assembly. They all say you have to drop the steering rack, remove two security bolts and the assembly comes loose.
Problem is... I have done this and there are still at least 3 screws holding the ignition assembly to the turn signal lever and wiper lever assemblies. The screw holes to remove these attachments are right behind the steering wheel so I cant maneuver a screwdriver to get into the holes to detach them... None of the other threads I've found even mention that you have to detach these...
Do i need to remove the steering wheel to get to these 3 screws? Has anyone run into this problem?
Thanks
Neil
