I've DD my FD for the past 15yrs. My typical commute has been something like 60-70 miles round trip with a combination of back roads & highway. It's a fantastic car on the back roads and also for combo back roads/highway...but there's no way that you're going to have "fun" driving an FD for 800 miles per week of only highway driving. My advice would be to take the suggestions above and get yourself a Honda for the highway and drive the FD for "fun". Good luck with your decision - Bil

anything is possible.... dont believe these haters.... It can be done.... but your going to have to do some drastic changes with the car & realize these situations..

=The ride & noise will probably annoy you after a while.
=getting parts for this car is very rare. so even with a normal autozone/napa you will have to wait days to get something thats broken

=get a temperature gauge cause the stock one is crap & when the car gets hot by the time it moves your motor is toast...

=putting alot of power is going to make things worse, lessen the life of the motor, & break parts.... if your a daily driver id say 350-400hp is the max

=change the oil when it starts to turn black... i daily drive mines everyday & i replace the oil every month.

=monitor everything. every week or so to make sure everything is in tip top shape..

=and dont be cheap on things with this car... it will make things much worse

thats pretty much my opinion on daily driving the FD

just for the record my car makes 710hp on 32lbs with a semi pheripheral. & been daily driving it since january......

& the only probelm i had was 2..

#1 the ac condensor locked up & broke the belt so i had to replace the condensor & belt.
#2 had to change the tire cause of a blister in the front

other than that havent had any problem with the car

^ I definitely agree with Darkphantom - get yourself an aftermarket temperature gauge. Best advice ever for a daily driver!

+1

Do you have any idea how much you would spend on fuel? I DD mine for 4 months w/ a 100 mile round trip. Gas costs alone were about $400 a month. Maybe a little more. I'm trying to black out the memory of how much it was costing me just to get work...

If you can only afford one car and have that kind of commute, look at another car like a Miata or Protege, Mazda 3 etc.

Mine is in the shop right now... or I'd be daily driving it.

Get used to that sentence.
