daily driver fd?

i am getting a fd and im not sure if i should get a ls1 swap or keep the 13b and get a bunch of reliability mods. i need to use the fd as a daily driver either way, so i need it to be really reliable and last a while. i have no problem with babying the motor, just as long it doesnt pop out of nowhere. id imagine that the ls1 would be a lot more reliable, but i dont wanna get owned when police check the hood and tow my car. if i go with the rotary, i wouldnt mind getting a bunch of reliabilty mods and taking REALLY good care of it. so is it possible to go with the 13b as a daily driver? what do you think, ls1 or 13b as a daily driver.

Well before anyone begins to bash on him, yes an FD can be DD, but your better off buying a beater car for a DD. I use to DD mine, but even with proper Maintenance, things will break, since were are talking about a 10+ year old car. On a side note, stick with the 13b IMO, but that is up to you since it will be your car.

Also try to the search button, I remember there being countless post on FD's being DD.

you can make a LS1/FD swap emmisions legal in CA...there are plenty of guys that have done it over at www.torquecentral.com .

There is a TON of useful info there.

LS1 is the way to go if you're serious about having a DD/FD

IMO a FD with reliability mods works fine for a DD, I always drove mine around as a DD and never had problems until the mods started gettn kinda crazy. Id just drive it around, get a boost gauge and dp if it doesnt have one already, and if it ends up haven problems then do your ls1 swap, I dont see a point in doing it in a fd that already runs fine.
