The Daily Driven Single

All - Thinking about going single next year. Possibly the GR67 installed by Gotham Racing. Anyhow, would like your thoughts about having a single turbo as your daily driver. My mileage is only about 9-10k/year. I'm in Texas (Dallas), so not much to worry about in regards to snow and ice.

Thank you in advance,
Eggman

Gas milage sucks, I was getting okay gas milage, as to about 220-260 miles per tank 18 gal filup, usually...

Once I got my sigle, even with leaving the stock Primary Injectors, it dropped at first to 100 miles per 18 gal filup, and once re-tuned, I got a bit better, with 160, I think the best I got was about 210 once when going only freeway with little to no boosting....

As far as a blast to drive it is, and as far as total miles on the motor... well I got 17K mi, before the motor blew... bad rebuild ?? bad tune ?? who knows, but Steve's going to do my next rebuild and tune....

installing a different turbo isnt going to automatically make your car get crappier gas mileage... bad fuel tuning is going to make you get crappier gas mileage.

You must take into consideration that by going single you are adding quite a bit of modification to the car. By doing that you're increasing the risk of reliability issues. But, if you want head ripping, pavement tearing putting your head back in your seat feailing, and you can afford not only the $$ it takes to do it properly, I'd say go for it!

The modifications necessary to run a 400 rwhp+ setup almost always significantly reduce streetability. "Streetability" is a very subjective thing, but stiff clutches, full exhausts, poor low end response, etc., make daily driving a medium to larger single turbo car less than ideal.

no problems DD a single...hell it could be more reliable than seq twins...if the work is done properly with a proper tune.

Its worth every penny, your gas mileage will only be affected by your tune and how hard you run her…

For how much fun it is, I drive mine probably about 4-5k per year and run C16 which is 10$ a gallon….22psi is jut tooo addictive

It can be an economic setup, or a money pit, depends if you get the “bug” once you start its hard to stop….

Whats wrong with DD. Just dont be a douche when you build your car. I dd mine, and I live in washington where it rains almost everyday. It doesnt matter if you dont beat the hell out of your car all the time.
