CYM restoration, it is GUTTED!

It is hard to believe how much room a car takes up when it is torn apart.

Check out the last 3 pics, the interior and front end are completely gutted, no wiring, dash, pedals, etc. It should be going to the paint shop this week. It'll probably take about 1-2 months for them to do everything then it'll take me another 1-2 months to put it back together.

I decided to drop the engine, trans and front suspension as a unit right out the bottom, this saved a lot of disassembly time.

Now if I can just get those headlights from 93BlackFD

Jeff, why do most of the FDs you restore to health have gimp wheels on them? Is there a correlation we can draw between the preference for ugly, heavy wheels and lack of driving skills in the same individual?

It is hard to believe how much room a car takes up when it is torn apart.
Tell me about it. Half of the shelves in my garage would be empty if I just put my car back together.

You know Jim I was SERIOUSLY thinking about your car when I wrote that "how much room" comment.

This is the only FD I've fixed that didn't have stock wheels.

Great project turbojeff, I have a question for you.. Do you know of any websites where I could research on how to begin sanding my entire FD down. Filling up dents in my door, fender and hood then begin to get her primed for the painting process?

Movin right along! Looks good! Should be ready just in time for the end of summer?

Let me know if you need a second pair of hands.

Richard.

Yes, more info on the Subaru, please. I owned an Impreza 2.5RS before I got the RX-7, and still miss it sometimes.

Really? I thought a couple of the cars in your photo albums had similar chunky 5-star wheels on them.

Check out this pic of how much paint is on the car.

Can your camera get this close up?

It is just PAINT! I peeled it off the car, the original paint is still on the car. I took a picture of the end of the paint chip.

I think it's a cross section of the paint. Is that grey inbetween primer? Confused as to exactly what you mean by "end".

I haven't seen anything that bad since we broke the quarter panels open on my '67 Camaro to replace them and found an STP cap under a block of wood used to prop up a 1/2" thick slab of Bondo while it dried... of course I got the piece of wood and the STP cap for free. Bonus!
