i cut the AWS wire on my wireing harness when i installed my PFC but when i put my stock ECU back in i left the AWS wire cut. on cold starts during cold days (winter) when i turn my car on the car will die immediatly if the engine is not warm. i have to rev the car to around 3k for about 5-10 sec so the car will keep ideling. do you guys think the AWS prevent the car from stalling on cold warm-ups or do you think something else is wrong with my car? i know for sure the problem is not with my engine i recently had a compression check and it holds 95 psi in both rotars and holds 17 hg of vaccume.

 

Well, the Jdm FD's don't have AWS on our UIM and my car doesn't have a problem when the car isn't warmed up so I think it could be something else.

 

I haven't had my AWS system for about 2yrs. No problems with cold starts in the 20-30F range. No check engine light, if I pull codes then I'll get an AWS system code but it doesn't affect the way the car runs.

so if you remove the aws which is a black covered connector with orange middle do you have to place a resistor to trick the ecu?

As usual thanks for your help...but the site mentions disconnecting the solenoid that results in a check engine light. would a resistor get rid of this problem? I have the block off plates already it is the wire that connects to it that is now empty....what to do what to do?

 

Read my post up a few, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. You do get a code if you check codes but it doesn't affect anything, you won't know it's there unless you go looking for it.

I've sold 25 sets of AWS plates and installed 3 sets, never seen a check engine light and never heard one reported.

Maybe your FD will be different.... Not likely.

Just unplug, block off and for God sakes leave the connetor there. Don't cut it off, it isn't visible or hurting anything.

I installed a blockoff plate on my AWS, but Ialso installed the AWS solenoid on a open hole on the back of the motor & plugged the connector back in.

No 3k run up or eng check light

 

Why run stock ecu instead of PFC...?
