Cut out cat, Billows smoke

I had my cat cut out and now I have the full 3 inches all the way back. now when I start my engine white smoke billows for 2-4 minutes, then stops. Any ideas? If you say coolant you will die, it's not that.

******* A, I'm trying to get some help here. The trendy thing to say is coolant. I'm looking for other alternatives, I've already eliminated the coolant possibility.

BTW. I had no smoke with the main cat on the car.

Of course not. All the smoke was being absorbed and burned right in the cat.

That is a downside of a MP. Smokey startups and a fuel smelly FD. My butt dyno doesnt have complaints about it, though

Take a clean t shirt and put it in front of the tail pipe. Have some one start the RX to capture the smoke vapor. After the smoking stops see if you can feel a oil residue. That oil may come from a new pipe or just normal oil that collects after it has cooled down. Your RX should start out rich that may also be the cause of the smoke till your exhaust and engine warms up.

Its either oil or rich gas mixture that causes the white smoke. Also if its an automatic replace or check the vacuum module not sure if the RX trans has this but you can easily find it if you see a vacuum line going to the transmission. You may be sucking in tranmission fluid when you start it up. So don't forget to check auto tran levels.

Good Luck

Its probably just water from the combustion process. Like Flybye said, before the water was heated up and absorbed by the cat... now, it takes 2 to 4 minutes for your exhaust to heat up enough to the point where the water will get completely vaporized before it exits the exhaust. Ever notice how a lot of cars spew out white smoke on cold mornings until their engine is warmed up?

Either that, or its coolant

I have to mention something wierd. My coolant line that is attached to the throttle body had a slit in it. At first, I would get coolant through my exhaust and I thought I blew an O-ring. At that point, though, I didn't know the hose was busting. Then one day, it completly ruptured and I had to replace it. Since then, I didn't get anymore white smoke at startup.

Somewhere, somehow, the split that hose had was causing the coolant to leak into the exhaust. I never bothered to find out how it got into the exhaust. I'm sure I have a small exhaust leak somewhere. Small enough for coolant to leak in but not large enough to make the exhaust seem like it has a noticable leak.
