Custom Titanium Exhaust!! Need people!!

There's a company that does custom titanium work. I was thinking of sending my downpipe an midpipe there and see if they could replicate it. (If they can) How many of you would be intrested in this exhaust?

how much lighter is it going to be compared to stainless steel? and is it going to be cost effective for the weight saving? I think instead of regular mp, a resonated mp like the rx7store ones in titanium would bring some interests.

I may be interested, depending on cost and weight reduction numbers. I am sure there are many more on the forum who will say the same thing.

cost cost cost...? the weight savings for a whole exhaust system could be around 10lbs. more if you did it all strait-thu. is this for the twins or single also?

The companies name is Tico

www.ticotitanium.com

I'm going to call them as soon as my mid an downpipe are ordered an in. I'm glad to see there is alot of intrest in performance.

Custom info ~ http://www.ticotitanium.com/custom.php

I honestly have no clue how much it's going to cost when I get estimates I will let you guys know asap. As far as the resonated midpipe would anyone be will to loan for it for a mold for the time being if we do decide to go resonated over strait? As far as weight I can't say right now but I'm sure a significant difference between that and the stainless. The reason why I'm doing this is because the titanium exhausts that are out are just way to much for seven enthusiasts on a budget to get. My goal is finally get a high performance exhaust for less $. Anyone else that can help please feel free to do so.

You can get me on aim I'm always on ~ FD3s4E

I think at one time Chuck at RE had the resonated Ti MP for around $500. Custom made in Japan and brought over so that might be the reason for the higher price at the time of the offering. If the average catback is around 19 pounds and the Ti is what, 7 to 9 pounds, then the Ti MP would save atleast 5 or so as a guess.

I have a titanium exhuast w/midpipe and I would say it's definitely atleast a 10 pound or greater decrease in weight.

Good to hear, makes it an even better idea if the price is around the 350 to 400 range.

Yeah Chuck had the Exhaust and I don't rememeber the name of the girl that has it but she like it alo. I'm nto shire if he ever completed the mid pipe. The down pipe would not be advisable becuase of heat. You could try heat coating it but it's a brittle metal and may end up cracking.Greddy Ti' exhaust sells for $500 on ebay. My Buddy Club is about the same weight as Ti, not much more. Unless you are racing and/or have to replace your exhaust regardless then it's not woth the price. ...unless you can get the price way down but the material is expensive and requires a clean room for proper welds.

Yes, I wanted to see how many people were intrested in the idea. Although the heat really is a problem. I will be testing this out in the next few months. If it works I will let you guys know how it goes. So far the parts I'm going to have fabricated to titanium. Downpipe (3) and midpipe (3) the resonated I might but first I'm going to give these a shot. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes but it is going to be a while. Glad to see you guys are intrested though.

Anyone have any imput on the JIC titanium exhaust?

JIC - Extremely light, nice quality (of that unit) and full titanium (not just can). Probably the lightest of all, unless the JDM ones at tripple the price are lighter. I have not heard it just seen it it person. I no longer like the company because of their rebuild costs and their US distributor. I don't think they would honor any warranty's.

3.5" may be a good plan. What's that company that makes a strait thrugh race muffler and has three tubes in it to quiet it down? Well anyhow they make a titanium round version but I thin it's either 3.5" or 4" pipe. That would make an excellent rmatching resonator.

I'd be interested in a TI setup that would replace the entire exhaust from the down pipe back. That should be lighter than separate mid and cat back (no bolts, two less flanges. I guess that shipping could be a bit of a problem.

If you suckers will be a $500 midpipe then I have some JDM stickers that will give you 20HP, only $100.
