i'm sorry to say, but that's a pretty ****** ghetto intercooler setup. and that looks like a china/ebay turbo. tisk tisk.

you could have spent that 450 bucks on an upgraded SMIC and about 2 hours of time and it probably would have flowed and cooled about the same as your ghetto FMIC setup.

i guess you figured out the stock ECU cuts fuel at ~10.8psi. there's a slight delay on the fuel cut, so that's probably why you were able to get to 15psi for a second. if i was concerned about the health of your engine i'd ask about your wastegate setup. i guess i'll entertain the thought:
do you have an ebay/china wastegate? do you know what pressure spring is inside the ebay/china wastegate? do you have it hooked up correctly? did you check to even see what boost it opens at before hooking up the boost controller?

yeah the boost controller will only lower the boost to whatever wastegate spring pressure is. in my case its around 10/11 psi. Which means my boost will not go lower then that.

To jacob. sorry to hear that ur so salty. look. ive been doin this for awhile now. and to be honest with u. i dont care what u think. ive builtthis car for me. not you or nebody else. so to be honest STFU. I dont need stupid comments like that looks ghetto. and ebay china. If u had any kind sense u would ask me where and what the numbers where. but u didnt u straight attacked. Way to be a dick.

The spring pressure in my gate is 7-8psi. external routed from the primaries not the collector. i know where the fuel cut is. My AVCR solenoid i think has taking a dump. And yes i know how much a computer will help thats why if u read my earlier post u would have seen i said im getting 1. Not everyone can have lots of money like u apparently. Some of us have to make do. Thanks for the interest though

im just wondering. Why so much negativity. How bout maybe a good luck or "yeah ur crazy but lets see how it ends up." I just dont understand why everybodys gotta bring PPl down. Its a good thing i got thick skin. Btw if i blow it up thats just a reason to build a small bridge motor anyway. k well i guess ill keep everybody informed. if its any consolation. The car hasnt had a single hickup not a noise not even a flat spot. No long starts and the AFR's have never gone above 11.8 I understand that the timing is way off and that makes things go pop. Ive been tuning piston motors for sometime now. I understand how power is made and how stuff blows up. Im just tryying something new. Damn... Havent u guys ever taken a chance before.

i think many people have--most got rebuilds.

This isn't about "taking a chance" for some totally new installation. There are bazillions of single turbo installations-you are the first I have heard of who is trying to skip steps--i.e no aftermarket computer.

Its well proven that rotary's don't like to have corners cut. The ones that do generally think about cutting their wrists when the motors pops.

Your money, your car so good luck hope you can prove everyone wrong.

no offense, but it's been proven over and over again that too many mods without an ecu will cause you to blow the motor. No one is trying to be negative, they're just trying to save you the money that it will cost to replace/fix everything that you will have to when your motor goes. The only problem with taking chances with this car is that if you do, sooner or later they'll come back to bite you in the ***.

Wow, I really have to question your logic here. If you can't afford to properly mod your car now, how are you going to be able to afford that rebuild that will be required in a week or two? Even an SAFC would be better than what you have now...

i think out of all the trouble you went through with this little project a $600 greddy fmic kit would have sufficed with better results, but hey to each his own right?

I don't see anything wrong with running that intercooler. I have seen lots of guys run the ebay cores with no issues. Including me. Maybe there are more efficient setups, but i really don't think there is a huge difference. It's hard to screw up a heat exchanger. Now as far as hitting fuel cut on a regular basis due to exceeding the stock computers psi limits. That is bad bad bad. I'm glad you decided to get a computer to prevent further damage. But those injectors will still have to go. With the size of your turbo and the boost you're trying to run your duty cycle is probably at 100 percent. This is speaking from experience. If you want to save money you can put some 850 cc in the stock primaries. I actually have some for sale in the 3 rd gen section that were cleaned and flow tested. I'm not being negative with you i'm all about doing things on a budget. I'm just being real with you from experience. this isn't the same as taking a chance on something new that no one has tried. The 3rd gen has been here for 15 years, there isn't alot that hasn't been tried. these engines will blow all on their own even without someone contributing to the main reason they blow. Detonation. Also 11.8 afrs are getting unsafe in a street car running 13 +psi. 11.5 is generally where people stop, or even 11.1 /11.2 to add a little insurance in case you get a bad tank of gas, or some other unknown variable.

I know i said i dont have money. i just think there r cheaper ways to do things then payin stupid money for parts that could be made for a lot cheaper. Not to mention i think yull learn more about ur car and be more proud of your baby when your done. the thing has been running like this for bout 6 to 7 months now. and not gonna lie... I beat on her prolly 4 days a week. I know im stupid but hey what can i say. im me... lol i appreciate all of your concerns and help. well see how it goes. thanks again.
