Nice, but I like the kirk racing better just because the 2 points mounts on the rear strut tower, it looks like your's mounts around the rear speaker area.

I really like that ashtray replacement too. That's the one that converts it from an ashtray to a mini storage bin right?

BTW nice car.

I'm iffy on the roll bar (diagonal to the wrong side, no horizontal bar, and $900!! YEEEOWWW!)

But love the ALCON brakes. Delicious

ah, i was under the impression that the bar only fit the R or base models.... thats what it said in the catalog anyway.... it might look skimpier, but it is chromoly, not steel, so it can be smaller, and lighter, and just as strong!

nice, maybe i'll have to sell my kirk racing one and get this...... by the way, kirk's doesn't mount to the rear struts either, unless they changed it recently.

My sentiments EXACTLY. For that price, you used to be able to get an M2 chromoly full roll-bar with horizontal harness bar and seat brace. I wish I could still get one.

after reading what happened to Trev in jimlabs thread...I started to realize how much time and money I have spent on performance, but ZERO on safety.

I too would love to get the M2 roll bar. I wonder if someone could match the specs or find the orginal manufacturer that supplied M2 with the work.

No it doesn't...did you even look at the pics you posted?

The Kirk bar attaches to the frame through the tool compartments in the hatch area, not at the shock towers. The M2 did attach at the shock towers.

I'll try to find out, but they may have fabricated it themselves.

Mah bad, but that's what I meant, I like how the bars mount in the back where the tools sit in verses the rear speakers compartment.

Well, my bar is quite old and was one of the first Kirk did IIRC.
I paid $300 in a mini GB I organized back in the spring of 1999.
The powedercoating I had done locally for $85 a steal by todays
standards. It's holding up fairly well.
I beleive their 1 3/4" bars sell for $350 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
My bar is a 2" version. Unfortunately it appears the quality of the Kirk bars has gone downhill a bit since I bought my bar. Fitment issues. So YMMV.

As another data point on price, an old friend of mine had his
bar custom made by Mitch Piper:
http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/mrtzride.htm

His total cost including installation and white powdercoating
IIRC was under $850.

Not kncoking the thread posters Cusco but....

FWIW,
Crispy

I'm looking forward to getting my Kirk Racing bar installed either tomorrow or sometime this weekend (along with assembling the engine).

M2 did not make the bar themselves. They had a fabrication guy make it for them. Same guy made their harness bar I think. Unfortunately I don't know who the guy was. If someone finds out let me know too!

www.m2performance.com, under rx7 and safety

I've got a lead on the M2 fabricator and am actually buying a used M2 roll bar this week.

M2 is better than the Kirk for fitment and especially weight. It should be, it costs over twice as much. There are some issues with that Cusco....

I would never bother with a bar that was not fully welded.

FD3s777, is that the deep corn steering wheel? That thing looks like a trucker wheel, but I love the style. Car looks great. I'd like a set of Alcon or AP brakes in the near future.
