A cursed EGR problem

OK, I get check engine code 16 which means the EGR is malfunctioning... But the situation is transient. Some days the check engine light is on all day. Other days I never see it. Some days it comes on during the drive to the store but then it disappears for the trip home.

What gives?? Has anyone else had this kind of problem? If so, what did you do to fix it??

If you have the EGR with the electric switch or contact that tells the computor when it is in position (open or closed ) you will find the plastic is bad from the heat and is letting the switch fail sometimes . Soon it will go south . Put in a blocking plate and fool the computor in to thinking it is there . good skill

don't make the mistake of putting in a new one like I did. I spent $300 to get it done, and now a little more than a year later, code 16 is coming up again. this time I'm pulling that thing out and putting a block off plate on myself.
