Curing transmission tunnel heat

when I bought my rx7 it was cold so I didn't really noticed till it got hot and with no a/c. You could almost cook your leg if you ever rested your leg on it. so I looked and found a heat mat that could work. so I finally installed it.

Looks reflective . Did you try adding more insulation around the tunnel for the interior? I know I can feel a lot of heat by the tunnel after I park and come back.

DEI Floor and Tunnel Shield?

That is good stuff. I use it in my race car. Worked so well I installed on the FD also.

If I may make a suggestion, make a couple of slits in the material using a box cutter and make sure it is pressed down against the tub so that it adheres to it. I used a piece the handle of my hammer to press it all down nice and tight for maximum adhesion. Especially in the curvy areas like at the front here:

When I installed, the trans, exhaust, PPF and everything else was still in the car. I cut the sheet into 8"-10" strips which made it easy to get into place and press down to stick.

yea I used a rubber mallet and the handle to form I started from one side and worked my was so I don't think I have air pockets but i also sealed around the heat mat with rubberized undercoating
