So it seems my cruise control and odometer stopped working at the same time.

can anyone think of a common symptom that might make both go out, before i tear out the cluster and try to diagnose them seperate?

the cruise control still has power, if i set the cruise control it will increase speed about 10 extra Mph, then kind of stutter, speed up, slow down, etc.

all the gauge/tach lights are on but the odometer box is blank.

both problems seemed to have occured relatively close to one another.

if the ground under the UIM was bad, the whole gauge cluster would not be functioning right?

 

your vehicle speed sensor is dead(attached to transmission)...both the speedometer and cruise control is dependant on that unit

 

+1 ^^^^ I'd be surprised if the speedometer is working, as it usually quits as well. Do you have any codes thrown on the ECU for speed sensing ?
