Cruise Control Glitch

After intermittenly working for some time, the cruise control will now no longer engage. So I was wondering what might be the problem...clutch switch, brake switch...possibly the cable itself? Am I missing anything else??

Short of taking the car to the dealer to only sit on their lot until the needed parts come in, I'd like to see if I could learn and/or fix the problem myself. Anybody have similar issues at one time or another? Thanks in advance for the help!

The clutch switch also turns off the cruise control. The inner spring often falls apart, and can easily be replaced with a spring from a common pen. Start there.

+1 for the clutch switch. I think that's the most common problem. The next thing I would check would be slack in the actuator cable. It's adjustable under the small black cover.
