"Cracked" rotor?
MR2 turbo guy here, and I'm looking at an FD which the owner claims only needs a new rotor, not a full rebuild. He says this diagnosis came from his local dealership and he has the paperwork to prove it.
Is this possible, and if so, what approximate cost would it be to fix?

No such thing as a cracked rotor. IT's probably got blown apex seals.
www.rotaryresurrection.com ---> tech ---> internal engine damage
IT will need a full rebuild and probably a couple of replacement parts for the block. There's no such thing as just doing half of a rebuild to the afflicted half of the engine only.
