Couldn't get the rpms past 4000 !
My car is a automatic and i was driving down the road,so i punched the gas and i got the rpms up some where 6000 -6500 and the rpms dropped real fast 3500-4000,and made a wierd sound out of the exhaust,it seemed like i lost power. So i punched a couple more times it seemed like it was in limp mode.Real slow moving rpm needle from 1500 rpm to just under 4000. And it won't go past 4000 rpms, it would just be stuck there.Boosting 7 lbs of boost now. I was currently boosting 10-12-12.Well when i got home .i saw smoke coming from under where the according hoses are for the intake, next to the uim. Well i decided to back out for a test drive after it cooled down, and it seemed to be fine.I was boosting 10-14-10. Is it normal for once you hit close to redline, the rpm drop to 4000.?
let me get this straight... were you selecting your gear urself or it was in D?? i ask this because the auto will never hit the red line even if you floor it... assuming your in D..
but drop to 4000rpm thats another story! did you check that your MAP sensor is still connected...
did you find out what was smoking??

It was in drive when i punched it,like i said it was close to 6000 rpms then droped to 4,000 quickly with a weird blahhh sound out of exhaust. The smoke was light, but very noticable coming from the turbo area. Not sure, cause i didn't pull anything off,but just to left of the uim and near the stock intercooler piping next to the uim on the passenger side. No a/f meter. My HKS FCON has a chip for fuel curve. I'm not boosting over 12,so i should be o.k with that set up. When i went for a test drive after the incident,i went gradually soft and hit 4,500 and i could feel the 2 turbo kick in. But i'm still having problems with the rpms dropping to 4000 after hitting the shift point, what ever the auto shift at WOT.
