could it run SO rich it smoked?

just put the new motor in, and it is sooo rich. all i need to know is if it could run SO rich it would smoke? smokes on startup and boost. but isnt coolant smoke or oil smoke. i think. just REAKS of gas.

I'm having the same problem all of the sudden. My smoke is so light it's hard to tell if it's oil. It doesn't smell like oil, just PIG RICH! You may have a faulty injector, that's what I think my problem is. I hear the injectors chirping a lil lounder then usual at idle.

Im sure it could. when motors run rich they blow dark black smoke. I would make sure you dont have a fuel leak if you are smelling alot of fuel.

if u smell gas, then its gas most likely.

you should not smell gas in the exhaust. EVAR.

My new engine smoked like it was the turbos for a while. It was a very light blue (yes, blue) haze smoke. I thought it was the turbos. It turned out to be from being too rich and ~50 psi idle fuel pressure. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and it cleared right up.
