could my cracked wastegate be my boost problem?

so i've gone through almost everything that could be causing my sucky boost pattern. at the transition it looses almost all boost boost but boosts good and strong on the primary. so i took off my turbos and it was cracked really bad all around the precontrol door. so i replaced that turbo manifold only to find later that my wastegate has a bunch of cracks. i havn't put my turbos back on yet so i was wondering if a leaky wastegate could have been the culprit of this boost pattern all along. if that boost pattern is not typical of a leaky wastegate i might just put them back on with the cracks. wouldn't a wastegate leak be more like slowly loosing boost at the top end or not being able to get good boost at all. I already checked to see how much it would be to get it welded and it wasn't worth it.

usually cracks dont really do anything unless they are really severe. And you would know when its severe. Alot of exhaust manifolds/wastegates of FDs are cracked due to its age but people still attain boost. So you're saying that you primary reaches its full boost, but when the transition kicks in, your boost just goes bye bye or gets weak. If your primary turbo is getting full boost your wastegate should not be the culprit. It sounds like you have a secondary turbocharger problem. You may want to check your charge relief valve, charge control valve, etc. that is pertaining to the secondary turbo. I cant really remember everything in my head so maybe this link in the FAQ sticky under turbocharger troubleshooting will help. After clicking the link, scroll down to where you have to troubleshoot the secondary turbocharger components.

yeah i've been there and already gone through the checklist. the in my precontrol door area were pretty bad and i fixed that so im thinking my transition should be fine now but i was just making sure that the by my wastegate aren't a factor in my boost problems before i go to the trouble of putting them back on

It's really unlikely they are the cause of any problem.
