could a clogged precat cause high idle: 2100 rpms

Experiencing high idle..backed off all screws..checked throttle and cruse control linkage....sprayed car cleaner to check for vacuum leaks...noticed precat was glowing....disconnected main cat..car still has high idle...not sure if precat is clogged..but definately was glowing....will disconnect ISC....

thanks

in a few minutes..I'm going to let the car idle without the main cat connected (2" gap between pre and main)
I want to see if the precat still glows

do you think this could cause the high idle??

thaks for your response 93BlackFD

Yes, I think that it could. You have to remember that the precat failing was a huge problem with the FD back when it was still "new" on the U.S. market. I would get rid of that thing and get yourself a DP ASAP! Best of luck to you.

Have you checked your intakemanifold gasket, usually when that goes it causes idle problems.

... or the pcv valve hose. If it's split it will cause that high idle. Happend to me once.

well just got back from letting it idle, without the main cat connected....turbos were starting to glow...will be getting a dp..I have sprayed carb cleaner on most of the vacuum lines, including around the trottle body gasket and the UIM gasket...I think I need to install the dp before checking the idle problem any further...bty..one thread suggested diconnecting the isc and your idle should drop...just did this and my idle did not drop

thanks guys for all your help

I'm sure glad that you caught that problem before you burned something up. Good luck with the DP install.
