Cost of Ownership

Greetings.

I'm new to the RX world as I am currently shopping for my first FD3. At any rate, I've read (and read) many of your remarks regarding the reliabilty (or lack thereof) of FD3s. At any rate, I find it interesting to note that, by my research, the cost of obtaining extended warranty coverage is surprisingly inexpensive given the concensus of unreliabilty. For example, I've been quoted $1500 for a 3yr./36000 mi. plan. for a 1993 FD3 with 73000 mi. It would seem to me that this warranty statistic would lead one to think that repairs are not that costly or frequent. Can any of you offer a compelling explaination why this statistic is misleading?

Also, I wonder how many of you have covered your vehicles and what kind of success you've found with actually obtaining warranty reimbursment. For those who've had success with their extended warranties, I'd like to solicit more detailed advice:
(if you don't feel comfortable posting a reply, please e-mail me at stevenjhahn@home.com)

1. How much did you pay for your coverage.
2. Which company are you covered by?
3. How much is your deductible?
4. Is there a coverage limit?
5. Any caveats, tricks, good things to know, etc.?

Lastly, is there anyone out there who's had minimal problems, relatively speaking and driven their FD3 over 100K mi?

Thanks and Regards,

Steve Hahn
