correct me if i am wrong but.....

i just went to my insurance agent to add another car to my policy. the insurance on my fd is outrageous. so i decided to add my dad's 1988 honda accord as the primary car and have the rx7 as the weekend driver. ihave full coverage on the rx7 because i have a loan for it. the accord only has liability. so why would my rates go up by $60 a month. and what can i do to lower my rates?
thanks

I'm pretty sure they are suppose to go down. Call them back and confirm what they did.

defensive driving courses dont apply until you are 25 anyway...(asked my insurance what my rates would g down to at 25, they explained my old DD course would kick in)..also, if you live in a suburb of a big city, make sure you lis the suburb as where you live...living in higher pop areas makes rates higher...more people to hit...

That does not make sense. It should have gone down quite a bit.

Tell them the FD is not just a secondary car, but a "sunday" car which you drive once a week. That lowers it quite a bit (at least it did for me).

How old are you? My insuracne said they dont' allow you to list something as a recreational car unitl u turn 25 or 24 or something liek that. IF thats the case then amybe they just added the 88 accord ot your policy. THat would explain it going UP by $60

I'm not old enough to have a recreational car, so I'm gonna have my mom switch cars with me (as far as the insuracne company knows) And I'll jsut continue driving my FD. If I get into an accident and my insurance asks I'll jsut be like "uhhh.......my mom let me take the car for the day." SO in the end I'll be paying wutever full coverage for my FD would cost under my moms name.
