itll take up to a month to get all the air out, just keep your overflow tank filled to the brim and let your ast take care of it. even if you have alot of air in your system, the engine will just siphon what it needs out of the other tank in the fender and spit it back in as it needs to. the after market ast's are nice because they have ventable caps so you actually can manually take air out.

sorry, didnt follow the no hot air thing? have you done the fan mod yet, and stuffed some foam around the radiator in the mouth to direct air through instead of around. that works great, just spray paint the foam black and you cant see it. also, water wetter is a radiator addative that keeps big air bubbles from forming, instead it makes alot of little bubles so the barrier between coolant and the boiling point on the engine is much smaller and farther between. ps, every time you open the water pump cap, ur letting air into the system, remember that. to add coolant, turn the car on and fill up the reservoir. get back on the no hot air thing.

air in coolant
If you do a search on this site to find the *correct* method to remove the air, you will find that it is necessary to "burp" the air out. The air separator tank (AST) will remove some air, but not quickly. Brief procedure: Run your engine to operating temperature. Allow it to cool to room temperature (like over night). Open the radiator cap at the filling position- on passenger side, not on the AST. Fill with coolant. Replace the cap. Run engine to operating temperature. Allow to cool to room temperature. Open filler cap, refill with coolant, etc. Usually two to three cycles like this will get most of the air out. From *that* point, the AST should be able to handle any small amounts of air and it will not require a month's time. Check your coolant reservoir to make certain it is at the correct level, not brim full. There must be room for the hot coolant to expand into the reservoir, otherwise it will overflow.
