cooling question, underpanel

hey everyone

i was reading up on cooling problems and i saw everyone was saying that the under panel is VERY important and i was curious as to WHY is it so important? mines off and i was looking at it and i just dont see how cool air will go up into the radiator, i mean the radiator does sit in a lower postion than when it was in a stock position..... i have a greddy front mount IC and a KOYO radiator, i know the car is suppose to stay in between 85-88 degrees and my car is running a little on the hot side, the PWFC reads at 86 -95, and drops down to 90 dregrees, is that normal or should i put the under panel back on or be at all concern? im also using water wetter

i was also thinking of making one out of aluminum with scoops on the bottom directing the air up, any thoughts or comments on that?

thanks!

What the undertray does is to channel air into the radiator rather than allowing it to pass around the radiator. It's very important.

if it passes through your FMIC first, yes, but it's cooler than no air.
