cooling fans and relay questions

I had my old fans burn up. looks like the driverside fan shroud melted and then tilted and got jammed by the radiator. burnt the motor up. I installed a new pair of fans and now no operation even with ac on. I am suspecting the relays went too. my question is how hard is it to actually change out the relays. who has done this? I need to know how to fix this? plus I need to get to the thermoswitch and change it. sounds like I am going to have to pull the alternator and get to it. anybody that can help me please.

The fan relays (four of them) are located on the passenger side of the engine bay in a small cluster bracket (search, or go to ciriani's site for the link to Disney's fan mod). There's not much to a relay; if they don't click when you ground them when energized, they're bad. Easy to check.

You say you replaced the "fans"...I'm taking it that you mean you replaced the motors as well?

I replaced the set of fans. took the old ones out and replaced them with another set. I just don't have them coming on at all. not even with the ac. I hooked a toggle switch to them and can turn them on manually but not with the ecu.

Did you check the relays and all the wiring leading to them? Make sure that your tires haven't been rubbing through the fender well on the passenger side and wearing through the wiring loom.

I don't see any visual wear or obstructions. I do know that my last set of fans, the driver side fan shroud got messed up and seized up and I think it might have blown the relay somehow. my new fans work with the toggle switch on. thats what makes me believe the relays are toast. hmmm? how hard are they to replace? is it plug and play or do I have to rewire?

Easy to replace, as each one just plugs in to the wiring loom. Not sure how much they cost, however.

I am sure I can find them for reasonable. I just need to replace them and need to know as much as possible. makes it easier if you know what is going on.

The relays were $75 each from Malloy last summer.
