coolant vaporizing... why?

I just flushed my radiator and filled it with 50/50 coolant/water and started it up and there was a weird knocking sound and when i popped off the lever on the AST, tons of coolant pumped out. I then shut the car off and opened the cap off with a rag and saw that it was bone dry. I have a suspision that it may be that the cap isn't providing pressure so I'm going to pick that up, and the motor was running fine and strong right before the coolant drain so I don't think anything is wrong. Any ideas what could be causing this mas splurging and vaporization of the coolant? Thanks in advance.

it takes more than one fill to completly fill the cooling system. You need to keep filling it up everytime you drive for at least 5 times. Make sure your car is completly cool before you open the cap or you won't let the system fill correctly from the reserve. This is normal

well... you do know that you can take off the hose to your coolant line at your throttle body and then refill to burp most of the air of the system right? its on the back of the throttle body, near the firewall.

good luck.

P.S. becareful of taking off that radiator cap, even steam will burn you pretty good!
