hmm...my FD has leaked coolant also in the past but only a few times...
i hope mine just got hot and the coolant bubbled up...wheni checked the coolant level it was full also...

your temp will get to 97C if you dont move?...wow i have a PWR rad and ive mines never gotten above 93C maybe just sitting...does anyone else's do this?

maybe you guys should do a fan mod to keep your temps lower than low-90's??? if i'm stopped, and my temps hit 84, i turn the fans on b/c i know that it'll creep up to 90+ quickly...

but then again i'm ultra-paranoid about coolant temps.

well isnt anywhere from 85C to 95C pretty acceptable for operation temps?...

Well, we found the problem. My drivers side rad fan had stopped working. Think the motor went out. I did have some adjust my PFC to turn the fans on earlier, but with only one fan working, I think it's not enough to cool it down properly.

Questions:
What is the OEM t-stat set to fully open? I've heard lots of speculation.
If I change it to a lower temp, what is too cold? I've seen 68's or 75's for sale. I've read on these forums that changing to a lower temp t-stat works well for keeping the car cool.
How do the fans work in general? Do they both work at the same time low/medium/high? or Does one of them work in low speed and the other only comes on at a higher temp? I just want a better understanding of exactly how they work?

The other fan motor is supposed to be here this week, so I'll let everyone know if that fixes my problem.

You dont want to run too cool of a t-stat. The engine will never reach normal operating temps and will run rich. This will not only reduce power but cause carbon build up. Just run the stock t-stat, it works plenty fine.

I dont remember exact numbers but I believe the stock t-stat starts to open about 83C and is fully open around 90C, at any rate 68 or 75 are both way too low.

Check the fans relays on the passenger fender to make sure they didn't come unplugged. Fans won't work if they are not connected

If it's only one fan not working, then it's a fan motor. The fan motors (and relays) are wired in parallel, so if one goes out, the other will continue to function.
That the motors are wired together also means that they cannot function independently from one another, i.e., one motor cannot run on low speed while another runs at high. Both motors function together, meaning they both run at low, medium, and high speeds.

I suggested checking the relays because it happened to me. One relay came unplugged, and only one fan worked. I don't remember which relay it was because it was 5 years ago.

I'm not saying you are a liar, or a bonehead for suggesting it; only that there was another cause. If you take a close look at the wiring diagram for the fan relays/motors, the relays are wired in parallel to both fan motors, meaning they cannot affect one without the other, which includes energization of the motor itself.
