Coolant loss just need a little help

Hi guys just need a few pointers on my car. Over the last few months ive been loosing coolant and cant seem to figure out where its going. Im not loosing any coolant when running the car, its just after it has been run then parked up and left overnight then i come to start it in the morning i have the dreaded buzzer. ive never had the buzzer come on when im driving so i dont beleive its actually a coolant leak as such and i dont get no overflow out of my fill up bottle behind the bumper so i dont beleive i have a coolant O ring problem. The only thing that seems to make sense at the moment is a posssibly one of the radiator caps is letting air in on cool down instead of the system drawing in water from the fill up bottle. Can anyone who knows a lot about the coolant system shed some light or tests i can do to find my problem thanks again.

If the coolant tank isn't overflowing, then drawing coolant back isn't the problem. You are losing coolant while driving. That means a leak, or bad coolant seals. How many miles on your motor? Is it the original motor?

It's possible that you have a leak, and it is leaking on a hot surface. That would lead to no dripping of coolant on the ground. Can you smell any coolant in or around the engine bay?

you might want to get new caps for the filler neck and AST. Thats how air was getting in my system.

have you tried burping the system again?

My light stopped coming on on start up after i burped it completley... its hard to get all the air bubbles out. I had to do it like 4 times.

Look closely at the top of the engine under the intake manifold for puddling coolant. There is a coolant line that runs through that area and it is difficult to see, but leaks there are not uncommon.

Best way to test is to use a coolant system pressure tester. Its a contraption that mounts to the filler neck at the water pump replacing the filler cap. Once its mounted, you pump it up pressurizing the system. If you have any leaks, you'll see them pretty quickly.

Here in the US, you can rent them from the local auto parts store. Sometimes they are even free.

Sometimes coolant leaks from worm out hoses that no longer seal properly and somtimes it leaks from worn out hose clamps that no longer seal properly. The later has happened to me on a few occasions especially on those screw type worm gear hose clamps that you see at the auto parts store. They loosen up over time. I try to buy new OEM hose clamps whenever possible as they have the proper torque to clamp the hose down (although they do loose tension going on 10 years of use).

Cheers.
