Coolant loss

Hi,

I am concerened, everytime I check my coolant level in the filler neck after the car has cooled down, it is always an inch or two below where it was the previous time. The aluminum AST is always full, and the plastic tank on the right side of the engine bay is still full. However with the windows down following hard acceleration there is a faint smell of coolant. Is it possible to be leaking somewhere???, tomorrow I will check for hydro carbons in the coolant to ensure it is not being consumed, however if not where is the best place to look for a coolant leak??

Thanks

remove the undertray of ur car for a day, drive around. If it's leaking u will see some of the drops on the floor when it's parked after cool down.
I was loosing very little coolant, but I did it to find the exact spot I was loosing coolant. Turns out my clamp on the lower radiator hose was defective.

I've been having a problem like this for a week or so...reconnected rediator hoses with screw clamps instead of those hellish pinch clamps, replaced the upper and lower coolant hoses to the turbos, still a leak, the leak must be AT the turbos...*****...hopefully a hardline leak that can be spotwelded and not a crack in the housing...plus it is pissing me off that I cant find it...the leak is veeeryyy minimal while car is running, but once it turns off after being driven well, and I know the engine bay is hot....drip-o-rama......

...it never stays topped off...as long as you can see coolant on your filler neck....your ok.

there are hoses under the plenum that water flows thru...there is probably a small tear on one of them Id bet (I had this problem and it was a tear around a hose clamp)...eliminate all hoses and issues that can be seen from the top before removing the plenum to check those hoses.

If i were you I would replace all the hoses on the thing. Id also watch all my temps..all the time until the problem is solved. small things can often become larger issues if they arent taken care of.

good luck

Found the problem,

I finished installing my cat back and downpipe today and while inspecting under the hood I found a small leak around my (coolant buzzer sensor, or temperature sending unit), the black nut with a wire threaded into the coolant filler neck, and a larger leak where the coolant filler neck bolts to the block. Thanks for the replys, this forum is always helpful. Going to install koyo, pettit intake, turbo timer, ECU, and whatever else is here tomorrow after work.
