coolant light and oil pressure light

i read somewhere that the oil pressure meter is notoriously inaccurate on these cars...that being said, i was starting up my car the other day and the oil pressure light turned on and emitted an annoying beeping sound for a least 1-2 minutes, after that, it turned off and the sound stopped. i have not seen it happen since. also, the coolant light turned on briefly when i started up the car, and also turned off after about 2 minutes and did not come on again as i drove. does this mean i need to take it in for an oil change immediately? or is it another faulty meter on this car? it isn't due for an oil change for another 1,000 miles (was changed less than 3,000 miles ago)

The light is for oil level and normally comes on when 2 quarts low. You could just be close to that level, but parked on an incline so it sloshed away from the sensor.

Check the oil on the dipstick and, with the car cold, open the radiator caps up and make sure it's full to the top.

I've had this happen as well, however its been after I've emptied the system and perhaps didnt bleed it 100% and left it slightly low.
As Mr. Clark stated, top it off make sure the sensor is submerged.
