Coolant light on intermittently
Hey guys...I wrote a few weeks back about this and it was suggested to check my coolant cap. I did and it seems just fine. I think I overfilled the coolant however and now the coolant light comes on consistently. This may be a dumb question but can this alone cause the light to come on and for the buzzer to sound? It's really unnerving because the car is and has been perfect otherwise. I don't know if this is related, but I'm blowing more blue smoke than usual - any of you bright mechanics out there have any ideas? Thanks guys...unfortunately, I don't know of ANY good rotary mechanics here in Las Vegas to troubleshoot and I'm getting a little desperate.
Thanks again!

if you topped of your coolant and the light came on then you are probalby loosing it somewhere, unless as adam c suggested - you might have air in the system and it might need to be burped. check out the link....it sould help.
good luck

Like the others have said. ^
There really is no way to put too much coolant into the system - it will push into the overflow and splash out of the overflow tank. The buzzer only detects not enough coolant - air bubbles are the usual suspect - you can burp the hoses, vent at the TB, or just wait for the bubbles to reach the filler neck and top off.

just keep checkin coolant..try startin it up with out the cap off..if it spews you may have a problem..try a drain and refill.. it could just be an air lock..coolant systems sometimes are finicky..i'm not an expert so i'm just givin you safe stuff to try ..anyone?..comment to this?...don't want to mislead the man here..i let my system pop the thermo and circulate and add cooolant and burp the hoses fill to the top and seal..add a bit in the over flow and watch the temp level and check the coolant after a cool-down..take it out let her warm up ..do a cool down and check level again..do a comparison..my way anyways ..others will comment if it's not correct..
