Coolant Freezing point

Have my car parked for the winter. Just recently did a coolant flush 70/30 as the manufacture recomends. I bought a coolant freezing point tester and it reads -7 degrees fahrenheit (-22 degrees celsius). Here in canada we sometimes get temperature as cold as -34 fahrenheit (-37 fahrenheit). So if the car is parked not going to be driven all winter, would this be safe? or will it freeze and damage internal parts?

I would drain the coolant, and refill with a much higher % of coolant. A mixture of 40% (water)/ 60% coolant should protect you to about -60 fahrenheit. The 70/30 mixture is for much milder climates.

i never had any problem with coolant freezing with a 70water/30coolant in Canada.

Is the car being parked outside? maybe put a car cover over it?

I don't think that would do much unless you put a space heater under the cover as well.

70/30 is definitely not for Canadian winters. Rather than draining all the coolant, you should be able to get a more sensible 50/50 ratio over a few days by using a turkey baster or the like to remove coolant from the AST and filling with 100% antifreeze. Most ASTs take about 1/2 litre so it should not take more than a few iterations.
