coolant flush

Hi guys,

planning on changing my coolant, want to do a flush before I change.

when flushing is it as simple as drain, leave plug off, run a hose into overflow neck and keep running until water draining out is clear. then refill with coolant and distilled water?

thanks

im not sure why you would fill from the overflow thak...you should fill from the coolant filler cap lol..maybe fill the overflow tank as well but dont use it as your primary filling location..

Anyway, there is also a drain on the engine block. You need to drain both the radiator and the engine block to do it properly.

If you really want to do it properly, then drain both the radiator & engine block. fill system with distilled water, run it for a few mins untill the thermostat opens.
Let it cool down. Drain the plain water out again from the radiator & engine block.

Refill with your real coolant. Fill from the filler neck - remove the upper throttle body coolant hose when filling. makes it much easier to fill the system.

^Agree. To an extent you're defeating the purpose of the flush by using tap water. And I recommend using the FL-22 coolant when re-filling. Brands differ, but usually labeled for Japanese/Asian vehicles.
